Lip cancer is a type of skin cancer that most often develops on the lower lip from long-term sun exposure. It can start as a persistent scaly patch, sore, or spot that doesn’t heal. I’ve had a scaly patch for over a year so luckily I was referred to a dermatologist. My doctor is treating it early with topical chemotherapy to destroy abnormal cells before they can turn into something more serious. Treatment can cause redness, peeling, and irritation, but it’s part of stopping the cancerous cells
